I grew up in a very small town and farming community of about 300 people, with a deep sense of roots and community. You grew up knowing all the people in town and having a relationship with most of them. A lot of families had spent generations there.
I decided to get into massage from a nudge of a good friend of mine who was a doctor. I had already been certified to do horse massage and was looking for a way to help people become more aware of what was going on in the body.
I had been working in veterinarian medicine for over 9 years for the best vet in the world. At the time I was involved with the AAEVT as one of the first charter members and was increasingly aware of alternative healing modalities for our equine friends. The horse massage was, for me, a side business.
I had been thinking for a long time of going to Alaska to chase a dream of running sled dogs. At the time, I was in a place in my life where I could just sell everything and move. I didn’t want to be 70 years old with regrets that I didn't try it out. Well, I did it and it changed me. It gave me a deep spiritual connection and made me feel stronger about achieving my goals and dreams and feeling compassion for all living beings.
My running and adventures help soothe my soul and clear my mind, giving me the tools I needed to focus my attention 100% on whatever I chose to do. It became clear that massage was the most meaningful gift I could give to others. I was trained and achieved several certifications. And so, I offer it to you...
Here are a few types of massage I offer:
Swedish – the classic relaxation massage
Hot River Rocks – a great add-on or stand alone treatment to beat the winter blues, or for a deep and warming relaxing massage.
Ashiatsu "with a Twist"– for clients who want deep tissue/ pressure. It’s a nice complement to those working out at the rec center, where I have my office.
Thai Yoga Massage – deep stretching from a different prospective, done in your comfy clothes. It’s an excellent compliment for those working out.
Reflexology – a great way to revitalize the body by working on the feet and hands.
All of my massages are individualized to the client. I believe massage is about the client and not about me. I use my focused intention to help bring relaxation and the reduction off stress and overall awareness to the body.
Massage therapy goes beyond relaxation and stress relief. It can relieve headaches, treat physical conditions, improve flexibility, and even lower blood pressure. With so many health benefits, you shouldn't view massage as a "luxury" or saved for special occasions, but essential for ongoing wellness and health.
That's why I offer a wide variety of customized massages – at a fraction of the cost of traditional day spas.
So treat yourself to a little get away and feel healthy.
